Tim was born and raised in the great state of Vermont, but has spent as much of his life traveling as possible. Taking his first trip out of country during high school, he visited his oldest sister in Italy where she was living at the time. After days spent in the majestic cities of Florence and Rome, he become focused on repeating the experience.
During the end of his time in high school he traveled to Managua, Nicaragua with an NGO and to gain yet another view of foreign countries and cultures. Tim's first long term travel outside of the United States was when he joined the travel industry and worked abroad from London, England. Using the UK as a home base, he was able to visit more of the historic locations that Europe has to offer before eventually returning home to finish both his undergraduate and masters degrees.
In 2012, Tim decided to take on another new adventure and moved to Lima, Peru. He initially worked for a travel agency located in Lima but was soon drawn to Good Life Travels because of their unique mission statement. A travel agency that was dually focused in both creating amazing vacations for their travelers while also ensuring that the local communities benefited directly was exactly what he was looking for.
Kiki grew up in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico also known as “La isla del encanto” or the island of enchantment. Although she loved the tropical climate and the warm-hearted people, she left the comfort of her home to mix it up and study in the United States. While at Clark University, she developed a passion for hiking and traveling through the Northeast all throughout her undergraduate career. Although she returned home after graduating, her passion to travel stuck and a year later she embarked on to her way to her soon-to-be second home: Lima, Perú.
While working for most of 2015 with MEDLIFE in their Lima, Peru headquarters, Kiki immediately fell in love with their nonprofit’s mission to provide Medicine, Education, and Development to the people most in need. She managed the programs at affiliated Puerto Rico colleges and universities, as well as helped to facilitate the volunteer experience both in Lima and in Ecuador. She also worked with our programs department to implement a Family Planning program at our Perú clinics.
Although she enjoyed the busy streets of Lima, her love for Perú only grew stronger as she visited the different sub-climates this diverse country has to offer. In only 9 months, she managed to visit Perú’s “costa, sierra y selva” (how the locals refer to their country’s different areas -desert coast, Andes mountains and Amazon jungle). Her year was made up of spending relaxing beach weekends south of Lima, camping in the sand dunes in the outskirts of the Atacama desert, running a half-marathon in the Amazon jungle, hiking through Andean towns of Ancash’s Huaraz, enjoying Oxapampa's outdoors, visiting the lovely city of Cusco, and experiencing the historic Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. That doesn’t even cover her travels to Colombia, Ecuador, and Chile.
Because of her love for backpacking and her love for MEDLIFE, she decided to stay with us at Good Life Travels. She is eager to share her traveling knowledge and help people enjoy the beauty that South America has to offer while working for a cause close to her heart.
